Volunteering Opportunities

Our church worship services are broadcast over Channel 15 Public Access TV, Cable TV, in St. Albans. Our services reach out to those who are home bound or ill, and people who simply enjoy watching and worshiping with us.

We are in need of volunteers interested in learning how to set the equipment, to record our services, and then to deliver the service DVDs to the station.  If you would enjoy sitting in the balcony and being a part of the video team to outreach to the community,  you would be MOST welcome!

Our clock tower houses the over 100 year old, hand wound clock, that is still known as “the City Clock.”  It was completely restored in 2006, with the help of members of the church, overseen by David Welch of the Green Mountain Time Keepers, and Wade Smith and with hours of help from David Douglas.  The clock is hand wound once a week by a hearty and dedicated group of winders.  Come join the 110 year old membership of “winders!”

We have a very clean and warm nursery, and wonderful young children who need watching and reading to, during the services.  Our nursery is located in the Sunday School wing, so a nursery volunteer would not be alone or without support.

Do you enjoy greeting people and welcoming folks to church?  You are the person we want to be at the front and back doors of our Sanctuary.  A welcoming smile, handing a bulletin, showing the guest book and inviting folks to coffee hour after service, perhaps going with a newcomer to coffee hour, would be some of the warm and inviting tasks of an usher.  You would also light the altar candles and take up the offertory collection…

Do you like to read?  Welcome those who would enjoy reading the scripture during our services – sharing the Word of God to the parishioners.  The readings are sent out from the church office at the beginning of the week to readers, or mailed by postal mail, and are posted at the Lectern in the Sanctuary on Sunday morning, in large print.  There’s plenty of time to “practice!”

If you would be interested in any of these volunteering opportunities, or perhaps have an idea of how you would like to help and be a part of our “church family,” please call our church office, as 524-4555 and leave your name and contact information.  Someone will connect with you.  And you are most welcome to browse this website, which is in the process of being updated and renewed with more information about our church, our membership, our faith and our welcoming to you and to the community.
